Adèle Appriou

Adèle Appriou is a Research Intern with MPI Europe, where she primarily focuses on return and reintegration as well as irregular migration. She previously interned with the Danish Refugee Council’s Global Protection Unit and worked with the prefecture of the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine on refugee reception and integration policies.

Ms. Appriou holds a master’s degree in peace, humanitarian action, and development from Sciences Po Lille, where she specialized in EU–Africa cooperation on migration, protection, and the humanitarian–development nexus.

Many migrant-origin countries are developing policies and institutional structures to support their returning nationals, driven by safety concerns, emergencies, and in some cases pressure from destination countries. This policy brief examines these developments and identifies opportunities to better align local services, national policies, and donor support to strengthen international cooperation on migrant returns and reintegration.
